Recommended Voice-Over Teachers

I usually advise people interested in voice-over to start off with a book because it is a small investment of time and money. You can review my recommended reading list at

www.AVOICEAboveTheCrowd.com/books.html

Once you decide to pursue voice-over, you will want to get some training with with a reputable teacher. The following is a list of folks who have offered voice-over training in Atlanta. You would need to check with them for schedules, content and pricing.

Paul Armbruster  770 253-3418
Contact: Susie Berta, class coordinator (susie@susieberta.com)

I can personally recommend Paul's workshop as he was my first coach and demo producer.

By the way, I met Paul at a 2-day Intro to Voice-Over class at the Alliance Theatre, which may be a good place for you to start because you learn about the whole industry and can see if it's something you really want to pursue. Contact the Alliance at 404.733.4700, or check out this page on their web site:

Judith Sullivan/The Communicating Voice  404 261-9778
www.judithsullivan.com

Judith is a delightful lady who is a coach to people on CNN and other broadcast news. I have gone to her for private coaching and studied with her in her non-regional speech class, but she also teaches classes on commercial voice-over.

Patrick Cusick  678 592-3179
I met Pat recently but have not taken classes from him. His program is unique because he will take your class tape to several agents for evaluation.

If you call Paul, Judith or Pat, please tell them that I referred you and send them my greetings.

While she is not located in Atlanta, you can also get some excellent training materials from national voice-over talent and my current coach Susan Berkley. Susan is the voice of AT&T, Citibank and other major companies, and she also teaches voice-over. She has made many of her classes available on CD at a very reasonable price. Her set of 10 boot camp CDs especially are a fantastic value! When she conducts the boot camp, you’d pay $995 plus travel expenses, but you can get the information on the CDs for just $396, AND she gives you some incredible bonus CDs! Just click on the picture to be taken to her site where you can view all of her product listings and course offerings.
